  • All new Nissan Qashqai highlights

Underpinning the all-new Nissan Qashqai is the new Alliance CMF-C platform, which has allowed Nissan’s product-planners, designers and engineers to create a vehicle which succeeds in reconciling the challenging customer demands in terms of design, spaciousness, dynamics and carbon footprint. The CMF-C platform is a completely new architecture, designed and developed to ensure the vehicles it carries are competitive, offering the driving and ownership experience that customers will need in a time of dramatic progress in the automotive industry. In terms of driving dynamics, one of the most significant factors in the dynamic performance is the overall increase of stiffness in the new Qashqai’s body in white – with a 48% improvement compared to the outgoing model. With a more rigid basis, Nissan’s engineers have been able to more precisely tune the suspension spring and damper rates, knowing they are reacting to the changes in surfaces – not the movements of the platform. This increases precision, response and reduces vibrations.Despites its overall increase in stiffness, the bodyshell is over 60kg lighter which contributes to the new Qashqai’s overall efficiency, while also reducing inertia when driving, so drivers will feel the improvement in agility. There are two rear suspension configurations, with a torsion beam being the configuration for two-wheel drive Qashqai on 19-inch wheels or below. The torsion beam has been upgraded from the outgoing Qashqai, with a new upper body insulator which increases local body stiffness and reduces the transmission of vibrations to the passenger compartment. And the addition of an uprated bump stop, which helps to infuse the rear suspension with a more supple motion and protection from shocks. To maximise the effectiveness of the dampers, their orientation has been changed to a more vertical position which reduces friction and therefore optimises their performance, ensuring better bump absorption and a smoother ride, as well as providing better roll control.

  • 2021 Nissan Qashqai Highlights

Clear the stage for the new Nissan Qashqai: The third generation of the crossover pioneer is now on the road. The new edition combines a sharpened design with a networked, upgraded interior, new technologies and features as well as an electrified drive - ingredients that guarantee maximum driving pleasure in almost every situation. The basis for this fine-tuning is provided by the CMF-C platform, which gives developers, designers and engineers additional freedom - optically and technically alike. As a result, the architecture raises the quality and the driving experience to a level that is generally only expected in higher vehicle classes. Around a decade and a half after the original was launched, the Qashqai is once again setting standards and taking account of progress and change in the automotive industry.Packed in the design language that was unchanged in the European design studio in London, the flagship scores with a sporty, elegant look. The Qashqai, which is almost 4.43 meters (+35 mm) long, looks sharper, more modern and more well-trained. While an enlarged Nissan V-Motion radiator grille with a chrome finish and flanking full-LED matrix headlights characterizes the face, the striking shoulder line, the 19 millimeter longer wheelbase and the up to 20-inch alloy wheels catch the eye when viewed from the side.

  • 100,000 e-POWER equipped vehicles sold in Europe

Since its debut in September 2022 Nissan's innovative e-POWER has seduced over 100,000 customers. To date, 65,367 Qashqais and 34,663 X-Trails, equipped with this powertrain, have been sold in Europe. What sets e-POWER apart is that the wheels are solely driven by an electric motor. This means the drive is effortless, smooth and quiet – much like a full electric vehicle. Indeed, e-POWER customers' feedback shows that they particularly appreciate the quietness and easy driving characteristics of the powertrain. The advanced and efficient petrol engine within the e-POWER system is used only to generate electricity, which charges the on-board battery and powers the wheels through the electric motor. When low power is required to drive the vehicle and when battery has enough power, the electric motor driving the wheels is only using electricity from the battery. If more power is needed, the engine generates electricity to power the electric motor and charge the battery. When maximum power is required, the electric motor takes electricity from both the engine and from the battery. Additionally, anytime possible power regeneration takes place and energy from vehicle motion is sent back to the battery. In addition, electrical energy generation is controlled according to road conditions. When road noise increases due to surface conditions and vehicle speed, the engine switches on to charge the e-POWER battery pack. This reduces the need for the engine to operate under otherwise quieter conditions.

  • e-POWER expands - Nissan Qashqai e-POWER launch timing and pricing confirmed

The Qashqai’s e-POWER system consists of a high-output battery that is complemented by a variable compression ratio 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-charged petrol engine generating 116kW, a power generator, inverter and 140kW electric motor of similar size and power output as found in Nissan's LEAF electric vehicle. The petrol engine generates electricity, which can be transmitted via the inverter to the battery pack, the electric motor or both, according to the driving scenario. What sets this powertrain apart is that the electric motor delivers power directly to the wheels, so its response is instant and linear. The new Qashqai's e-POWER system was conceived to deliver a pleasurable, effortless and smooth driving experience, without the need to recharge. At the heart of Nissan's QASHQAI e-POWER system is a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-charged variable compression 116kW petrol engine.First used by Nissan's premium brand Infiniti, the engine's variable compression capability is a unique feature in an internal combustion engine and allows it to adjust compression ratio to balance performance and economy, depending on the engine load. Ahead of its first introduction in 2018 with Infiniti, it was listed as being among the world's 10 best engines by Ward's, a US-based automotive consultancy.
