Porsche@Startup Autobahn

Description

Discover the universe from the back seat of a Porsche: at the Startup Autobahn Expo Day this Tuesday in Stuttgart's Wagenhallen venue, the sports car manufacturer and the startup “holoride” will show what entertainment could look like in the future for passengers in a Porsche. The aim of the joint project between Porsche and “holoride” is to give passengers the opportunity of immersing themselves in virtual entertainment worlds. For this, a VR headset with sensors is paired to the vehicle so that its content can be adapted to the car’s driving movements in real time. For instance, if the car is being driven around the curve, the space shuttle that the passenger is virtually travelling in will also change direction. This results in a highly immersive experience, which significantly reduces the symptoms of motion sickness. In future, the system will also, for example, be able to evaluate navigation data in order to adapt the length of a VR game to the calculated duration of the journey. Furthermore, the technology can be used to integrate other entertainment services such as films or virtual conferences for productivity in the passenger seat.

  • 2019 Volkswagen Jetta GLI Autobahn Exterior Design

Volkswagen of America, Inc., unveiled the new 2019 Jetta GLI at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show. In 2018, Volkswagen completely overhauled the compact VW Jetta to cater specifically to American buyers, with bolder design, more interior space than the outgoing model, and new technology. Building on the success of that model, today's GLI ups the performance ante with more power, sharper handling, and features shared with GTI and Golf R."Volkswagen has long been synonymous with small, sporty cars," said Scott Keogh, CEO, Volkswagen Group of America. "The redesigned 2019 Jetta proved once more that its combination of design, technology and value continues to resonate with buyers. The 2019 GLI takes the Jetta foundation and adds performance features from the Golf GTI to give buyers a true sport sedan."While the 2019 GLI features the MQB architecture, coupe-like profile and oversized grille of the redesigned Jetta, it adds sporty styling cues that hint at its beefed-up powertrain. Featuring a sport suspension, the GLI sits 0.6 inches lower than a regular Jetta, giving it a more planted look. Standard LED projector headlights with LED DRLs flank a black honeycomb grille with red accent line that harkens to the GTI. Golf R brakes, with red-painted calipers, stand out in the sleek 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels that are exclusive to GLI. In the rear, standard LED taillights are joined by a spoiler and unique rear bumper with finned diffusor and dual chrome exhaust tips to give it a truly unique rear view. A 35th Anniversary model features unique black wheels with a red stripe, a black roof, black mirror caps, black tail spoiler, and 35th anniversary badging inside and out.

  • Porsche x Kopernikus

Using a tablet to access the lifting platform: Porsche tests autonomous driving in the company’s own workshop. The test project is part of a collaboration in the context of the Startup Autobahn innovation platform, and is scheduled for completion in mid-2019. This project involves Porsche working with start-up “Kopernikus Automotive” to install a test field on the company’s premises in Ludwigsburg. The young company from Berlin specialises in technology for self-driven cars, and the aim of the joint project is to enable vehicles to drive from their parking space to the lifting platform and back again, fully autonomously. It is intended that mechanics will be able to manoeuvre the sports cars to the correct position in the workshop, quickly and automatically, using a tablet.
