Lyft Yanks Electric Bikes In SF

Description

Lyft has yanked over a thousand electric bikes from rental availability in San Francisco. Gizmodo reports the move comes after two e-bikes experienced battery fires in the past few days. The estimated 1,000 bikes were listed as “unavailable to riders” on Wednesday afternoon. San Francisco MTA sued Lyft for exclusive control of the city's bike-share business. The MTA lost and, up until the recall, Lyft enjoyed a near monopoly throughout the city.
