Huawei Lays Off More Than 600 American Workers

Description

China’s Huawei Technologies Co Ltd is slashing more than 600 jobs at its research arm in the United States. According to Reuters, Futurewei Technologies employed 850 workers in the United States. The layoffs come after the company was placed on a trade blacklist by the U.S. government. In May, the U.S. Commerce Department placed the firm on its “entity list” of organizations that pose security risks. The blacklist also restricts Huawei from purchasing products from U.S. technology companies.
