Its vehicle concept – comprising four doors, a large tailgate, dynamically flowing lines and five full-size seats – brings a highly distinctive character profile to the premium reaches of the midsize class. The second generation of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé also makes its mark in fine style with noticeably enhanced driving dynamics, a sharper design in the brand’s new design language, a refined premium ambience in the cabin and a wide array of innovations in the areas of control/operation and connectivity. Five model variants will be available from launch, developing between 135 kW/184 hp and 275 kW/374 hp.5.BMW i4All-electric mobility reaches the very heart of the BMW brand. The BMW i4 is the brand’s first electric vehicle focused squarely on driving dynamics. Locally emission-free driving pleasure, compromise-free premium quality and customer-oriented individualisation come to the traditional core of the midsize segment for the first time. The market launch of the Saloon is taking place immediately, while the Estate will land in dealerships from December. The level control system thanks to air suspension at the rear comes as standard in both models. Prices start at €56,168 (C 300 e) and €57,9532 (C 300 e Estate), respectively. An environmental bonus of €5625 in Germany helps to makes both models particularly attractive. Diesel plug-in hybrid models are set to follow in due course.
The 2 Series Gran Coupe is based on the BMW 1 Series tested in 2019. Where necessary, additional tests have been performed and test results have been reviewed. Based on this analysis, Euro NCAP concludes that the rating of the 1 Series can be applied also to the 2 Series Gran Coupe, with the following exception: the 2 Series Gran Coupe and, since October 2020, the 1 Series are now equipped with front seats and head restraints which offer better whiplash protection than those originally tested in the 1 Series and the car qualifies for points in AEB City. As a consequence, the adult occupant score of the 2 Series is higher than that of the 1 Series.
The first ever BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe brings the four-door coupe concept that has already enjoyed success in higher vehicle classes into the premium compact segment for the first time. The world premiere is taking place at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2019 and market launch will get underway in March 2020. Prices in Germany will start at €31,950 for the BMW 218i, €39,900 forthe BMW 220d and €51,900 for the range-topping BMW M235i xDrive.Standout features include the dynamically stretched silhouette,the four frameless side windows and the rear lights extending well into the centre of the rear end, merging into a High-gloss Black band that runs up to and encircles the centrally located BMW badge.Dynamic front end with fresh interpretation of BMW icons: theslightly angled headlights (full-LED as standard) forming the prominent BMW four-eyed face draw attention to the familiar BMW kidney grille, which takes the form of a large and connected element.As its sporting looks imply, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe sets out to establish the dynamic yardstick in its class. The first-ever BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe sees BMW bringing the four-door coupe concept that has already enjoyed great success in higher vehicle classes into the premium compact segment for the first time. This more dashing alternative to the classical sedan celebrates its arrival with a fresh dose of individuality, aesthetic appeal and emotional engagement, backed up by innovative control/operation and connectivity tech, excellent everyday usability and the dynamic capability for which BMW is renowned. The BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe will go on sale worldwide, the extrovert four-door coupe providing a particularly alluring gateway into the BMW product range.Built exclusively in Leipzig, Germany, the BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe represents the entry point to BMW ownership in the USA, and so it is fitting that the new model celebrates its world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2019. Around 20 per cent of 2-Series Gran Coupe models produced will find their way to the USA, while other key markets are China (from the end of 2020) with a target figure of 15 per cent and Europe, which should account for around a third of deliveries. Here, Germany (7 per cent) and Great Britain (6 per cent) are the major players. The BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe therefore has all the ingredients to fuel the enthusiasm of new, design-led customers in urban areas for BMW's hallmark driving pleasure. It represents an appealing addition to the model line-up, in particular in markets where the sedan body style enjoys strong popularity.
Tests on the BMW 2 Series Coupé showed that the car is offering good crash protection and satisfactory protection to vulnerable road users. The autonomous emergency braking system performed adequately in more straightforward testing scenarios, involving other cars and pedestrians, but was limited in the more challenging scenarios such as cyclist crossing and turning across path. The car achieved a creditable four stars as a result.
