Porsche presented its first fully-electric sports car to the public with a spectacular world premiere held simultaneously on three continents. "The Taycan links our heritage to the future. It carries forward the success story of our brand - a brand that has fascinated and thrilled people the world over for more than 70 years," said Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, who opened the world premiere in Berlin: "This day marks the start of a new era."The four-door sports saloon is a unique package, offering typical Porsche performance and connectivity with everyday usability. At the same time, highly advanced production methods and the features of the Porsche Taycan are setting new standards in the fields of sustainability and digitalisation. "We promised a true Porsche for the age of electromobility - a fascinating sports car that not only excites in terms of its technology and driving dynamics, but also sparks a passion in people all over the world, just like its legendary predecessors have done. Now we are delivering on this promise," emphasises Michael Steiner, Member of the Executive Board of Porsche AG - Research and Development.The first models in the new series are the Porsche Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo. They are at the cutting edge of Porsche E-Performance and are among the most powerful production models that the sports car manufacturer currently has in its product range. Less powerful variants of these all-wheel drive vehicles will follow this year. The first derivative to be added will be the Taycan Cross Turismo at the end of next year. By 2022, Porsche will have invested more than six billion euros in electromobility.
Porsche combines unique design and excellent utility value with extraordinary performance and maximum efficiency, as a powerful plug-in hybrid drive is now being added to the Panamera Sport Turismo model line. In the new Panamera S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo, Porsche combines a powerful four-litre V8 engine (404 kW/550 hp) with a virtually silent electric motor (100 kW/136 hp), resulting in a system power of 500 kW (680 hp). The maximum torque of 850 Nm is already available once the car reaches just above idle speed. The plug-in hybrid drive accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 310 km/h. Average consumption in the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) is 3.0 l/100 km for fuel and 17.6 kWh/100 km for electric power. The most powerful Sport Turismo can be driven for up to 49 kilometres solely on electric power, therefore producing zero local emissions. It is not just the balance between performance and efficiency that makes the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo unique in its segment; its spatial concept, including a large tailgate, low loading edge, increased luggage compartment volume and a 4+1 seating configuration, means that the new flagship of the model line offers a high standard of everyday practicality.
With the standard Performance Battery, the new entry-level model delivers up to 300 kW (408 PS; Taycan with Performance Battery: Fuel consumption combined 0 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined 0 g/km, Electricity consumption combined 28.0 kwh/100 km) in overboost mode with Launch Control; this increases to an output of up to 350 kW (476 PS; Taycan with Performance Battery Plus: Fuel consumption combined 0 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined 0 g/km, Electricity consumption combined 28.7 kwh/100 km) with the optional Performance Battery Plus. Nominal power is 240 kW (326 PS) or 280 kW (380 PS) respectively.As the youngest member of the model family, the Taycan includes, right from the start, the new features introduced in the other versions at the model year changeover. For instance, the Plug & Charge function enables convenient charging and payments without the need for cards or an app: as soon as the charging cable is plugged in, the Taycan establishes encrypted communication with the Plug & Charge-compatible charging station. The charging process then starts automatically. Payments are also processed automatically.

Breathtaking acceleration values, typical sports car pulling power and superior, permanently available power - the new 4S also has these strengths of the Taycan. The permanently excited synchronous machine on the rear axle, with an active length of 130 millimeters, is exactly 80 millimeters shorter than the corresponding drive component of the Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo. With two permanently excited synchronous machines on the front and rear axles, i.e. all-wheel drive, as well as a two-speed gearbox on the rear axle, the 4S has the main technical highlights of its model brothers in terms of drive architecture. The same applies to the intelligent charge management and the exemplary aerodynamics. With a drag coefficient of 0.22 or more, it makes a decisive contribution to low energy consumption and thus a long range.With its clear, purist design, the Taycan signals the beginning of a new age. At the same time, it unmistakably carries the Porsche design DNA. From the front it looks particularly wide and flat, with strongly arched fenders. The silhouette is determined by the sporty, sloping roof line. The side section with its strong, sculptural shape is also characteristic. The slim cabin, the retracted D-pillar and the pronounced shoulders of the fenders lead to a strong, brand-typical emphasis on the rear. There are also innovative elements such as the Porsche logo in glass look, which is integrated into the strip of lights at the rear.
