  • Wireless Charging Over Wi-Fi Could Be On The Horizon

Researchers at the University of Washington just successfully tested Wi-Fi charging. A recent report in Wired detailed how the researchers equipped a variety of devices with sensors to take Wi-Fi signals from a router and turn them into DC power. The team wanted the system to integrate with pre-existing Wi-Fi infrastructure, so they gave an off-the-shelf Asus router a software update to make it work as both a wireless power source and as a conventional Wi-Fi router. • How Droughted-Out Farmers Could Be Saved By The Sun

As climate change drives drought, and the rising global population drives food demand, the world's food security is ever more precarious. But struggling farmers may find relief from the soaring temperatures from the sun itself--and the technology that harnesses its power. HuffPost reports students at the University of Arizona noticed that vegetables grown under the cover of solar panels flourished during the hottest summer on record. The observation provided food for thought for Prof. Greg Barron-Gafford’s research in 'agrivoltaics': growing food and generating solar energy on the same land. The concept could fulfill the need for land on which to build new solar installations while also helping farmers stay afloat. It’s a case where one plus one could equal more than two. • Far From Raising A Glass To The Bidens, The Trumps Are Raising Something Else

On the morning of January 20, 2021, Donald Trump and Melania Trump will depart the White House as President and first lady. According to tradition and proper White House etiquette, the outgoing First Couple observes a number of protocols in the peaceful transition of power. But the Trumps have no intention of doing so. Rather than offering the hand of friendship, they will be raising their well-manicured middle fingers. CNN reports the Trumps have refused to invite the Bidens inside the White House before departing. Nor will they welcome the Bidens on the steps of the North Portico, much less ride with them to the United States Capitol. After all, the outgoing President and his family have refused to attend President-elect Biden's inauguration ceremony entirely.
