Hyundai Motor is enhancing its popular, award-winning Kona line-up with the launch of the All-New Hyundai Kona Hybrid.A natural extension to the Kona family, the All-New Kona Hybrid responds to European customers' demands for more SUV-bodied eco-mobility models. In addition to its bold design, it offers an efficient full hybrid powertrain and features a range of technology enhancements including advanced Blue Link connectivity features, SmartSense active safety and driving assistance systems, as well as state-of-the-art infotainment features.The original Kona, taking its name from the stunning Kona District on the Big Island of Hawaii, originally launched in 2017 as Hyundai's first sub-compact SUV in Europe. In 2018, the Korean automaker introduced the Kona Electric, its first full electric compact SUV. In addition, Hyundai unveiled a special Kona Iron Man Edition with a limited global production run. Since the original Kona arrived on the market in October 2017, nearly 120,000 in total have been sold in Europe.
Hyundai introduced its redesigned eco-friendly IONIQ car lineup in a North American debut at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. IONIQ Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid and Electric cars all receive refreshed exterior and interior designs, added infotainment technology and new Hyundai SmartSense active safety features and driving assistance systems. Drivers of the new 2020 IONIQ Electric can also enjoy 170 miles of range thanks to an upgraded 38.3-kWh battery with 36% more energy capacity. All 2020 IONIQ models also receive revised feature packaging because of all the product enhancements. IONIQ Hybrid with an EPA estimated 58 combined MPG remains the fuel economy leader for a non-plug-in vehicle. The new IONIQ Hybrid, Plug-in and Electric are available to customers now.Since its launch in 2016, IONIQ has been the world's first car planned from the start to offer three electrified powertrains - hybrid, plug-in hybrid and full electric. The Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid powertrain combines the best of the Electric and Hybrid powertrains without typical eco powertrain compromises. The Plug-in Hybrid features a Kappa 1.6L direct-injected Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine with an unsurpassed thermal efficiency of 40 percent and delivers an estimated 104 horsepower and an estimated 109 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine has been specifically tailored to the hybrid application and is combined with a quick-shifting six-speed dual-clutch transmission, differentiating Ioniq from its key competitors with a more dynamic and engaging driving experience. The Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid’s 44.5 kW (60 horsepower) electric motor is coupled with a 1.6-liter direct-injected Atkinson four-cylinder Kappa engine. The high-efficiency electric motor can operate at speeds up to 75 MPH and delivers instantaneous torque at low speeds, with available power-assist at higher vehicle speeds. The Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid provides an estimated all-electric range of 29 miles, 119 MPGe in EV mode and 52 MPG in hybrid mode, powered by a potent 8.9 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery.
