A Black man beaten up by several French police officers said he is seeking justice after the publication of videos showing officers repeatedly punching him, using a truncheon and tear gas against him for no apparent reason. French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin ordered the officers involved in the case suspended. The incident came as President Emmanuel Macron’s government is pushing a new bill that restricts the ability to film police, which has prompted protests from civil liberties groups and journalists concerned that it would allow police brutality to go undiscovered and unpunished.
US President Barack Obama addressed hundreds of people in Dallas on Tuesday, at a memorial service for the five policemen who were killed at a protest organised in response to the fatal shootings of two black men last week.
Dallas Police Chief Officer David Brown gave a press conference, Monday, at which he explained the guidance he gave to use a bomb robot to kill the man who is believed to have killed at least five police officers. Rounds ripped through downtown Dallas, last Thursday, killing five police officers and wounding at least seven more. The suspect was identified as Micah Xavier Johnson who was killed by a detonation squad robot in the standoff with the police.
Hundreds of people gathered outside Dallas City Hall on Monday, for a candlelight vigil in the memory of the five police officers killed in the recent sniper shootings. Families and colleagues of the five officers who died - four Dallas Police officers and one DART officer - were in attendance at the vigil. Sniper rounds ripped through downtown Dallas, Thursday, killing 5 police officers and wounding at least 7 more.
