In the United States, president elect Joe Biden has announced that one of his first acts when sworn in on January 20, 2021, will be to ask Americans to wear a mask for 100 days. He won’t mandate mask-wearing but only require Americans to do so, as he announced during a press conference on Thursday, where he also said he will be taking a Covid-19 vaccine publicly, in order to demonstrate that the vaccine is safe, as FRANCE 24’s correspondent Kethevane Gorjestani reports from Washington.

Japanese manufacturers Ogawa Studios are racing to produce Joe Biden masks as the US President-elect presses ahead with his transition, despite Donald Trump's refusal to acknowledge defeat. "We've already sold 1,000 [...] and we're expecting to sell 2,000 by the end of the year," explains an Ogawa Studios employee, adding that the company sold a whopping 25,000 Trump masks during his time in office.
