The measure, which will last through January 23, follows increased disturbances on airplanes since the deadly riot at the US Capitol. Delta Air Lines is prohibiting passengers from checking firearms en-route to Washington D.C.-area airports as a precautionary move ahead of President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration, the company said Thursday. The new rule, which will take effect on Saturday and last through January 23, is part of a larger effort by to prevent more violence in the nation's capital after last week's deadly attempted insurrection at the US Capitol building.
