Two members of the US Capitol Police have been suspended after welcoming pro-Trump rioters into the Capitol building on Wednesday. According to Business Insider, Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) said one of the officers took a selfie with a rioter. The other put on a 'Make America Great Again' hat and directed insurrectionists through the building. Ryan is on the Legislative Branch Subcommittee, which oversees spending on the Capitol Police force. He said one of the members may have been arrested. The attack Wednesday was the worst assault on the US Capitol since British forces burned it down in 1814. The rioters failed to stop the certification of electoral college votes for President-elect Joe Biden at the urging of President Donald Trump. The violence resulted in five deaths.
Every week, Rudy Giuliani posts a video to YouTube as part of his series, 'Rudy Giuliani's Common Sense.' There, the former New York City mayor and personal lawyer to President Donald Trump discusses political issues. Business Insider reports Friday's episode was a strange, 17-minute affair in which Giuliani pounded his desk making unsubstantiated claims about voter fraud. Citing no evidence, Giuliani called mail-in ballots 'unconstitutional' and a strategy for Democrats to hold back votes until they are needed in tight races. He also raged against Fox News for calling Arizona for Joe Biden. Thursday, pro-Trump protesters, some armed, tried to enter an Arizona polling station where votes were being counted in Maricopa County. Giuliani interrupted his own diatribe with two commercial breaks. In the second one, he smokes and promotes a 'real cigar' company with his discount code.
Amid President Donald Trump's frantic tweets demanding a stop to voting, Twitter itself is being sued for not suspending Trump's account. Business Insider reports the suit comes from two national, nonpartisan organizations. They're calling for CEO Jack Dorsey to temporarily suspend Trump's Twitter account over multiple violations of the company's civic integrity policy. The president has made various tweets in the last few days including baseless claims of election fraud and prematurely declaring victory. Twitter announced well ahead of Election Day that it would add labels to tweets that included misleading content. But the joint letter states that doing so 'does not go far enough' as the results of the 2020 presidential election remain unofficial.
On Tuesday, former mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani wrapped up an edition of his podcast Common Sense. According to Gizmodo, he then did a little post-show banter in front of a hot mic. However, when the episode aired on YouTube, that footage was still present. In it, he mocked the accent of Chinese people and pantomimed a bow. The personal attorney to President Donald Trump has a history of tech snafus, including butt-dialing a reporter and locking himself out of his iPhone. His 'security solutions' company, Giuliani Security, won millions in contracts. Its website was riddled with numerous glaring security vulnerabilities.
