President-elect Joe Biden has picked his nominee to run the Department of Housing and Urban Development, or HUD. According to Business Insider, Biden will nominate Democratic Rep. Marcia Fudge of Ohio. If confirmed, she'll become the first Black woman in the position. The pick will likely ease the minds of some legislators and activists who were concerned about a perceived lack of diversity among Biden's Cabinet picks. Representing the urban Cleveland-area district, Fudge had publicly lobbied to become Biden's Secretary of Agriculture in recent days. HUD is a sprawling department with a $50 billion budget and roughly 8,000 employees.
According to a new Gallup poll 83% of Republicans don't believe Joe Biden won the 2020 election. Per the poll, 99% of Democrats, 64% of independents, and 17% of Republicans said the news reports were "accurate." 89% of Republicans did not believe the electoral process worked well. 92% of Democrats said it did. Business Insider reports that 2020 election was unlike any other in US history. There was an unprecedented surge in mail-in voting, a raging pandemic, and a huge spike in domestic misinformation.

In a sign of Biden's legitimacy, leaders of major democracies have stepped up to congratulate the President-elect Joe Biden in recent days. Doubtless salt to his wound, Trump's favorite network--Fox News--and media outlets across the board have also declared Biden the projected winner of the election. Business Insider reports that as a whole, EU leaders and even Israel and Turkey have congratulated Biden. In both red and blue cities and states, people voted to legalize or decriminalize cannabis, psilocybin mushrooms, and, in Oregon, all illicit drugs entirely. New Jersey, Arizona, South Dakota, and Montana all passed ballot measures to legalize cannabis for recreational use. Voting to legalize cannabis and other drugs appeared to have nothing to do with whether a state voted for Trump or Biden--or its governor's party. and GOP governors of Arizona and South Dakota discouraged residents from voting to legalize cannabis. It didn't work.
