Over a hundred more rockets were fired from Gaza towards Israel overnight, the strip’s Hamas militant group claimed, adding it was a retaliation after Israeli airstrikes killed some of its senior commandants and destroyed another building in Gaza. This marks another night of violence escalation after a week of growing tensions. The exchange of deadly fire killed at least 83 Palestinians and 7 Israeli since Monday.
Israeli air strikes are seen in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, while rockets are being fired towards Israel from Gaza City. Israel launched earlier deadly air strikes on Gaza in response to a barrage of rockets fired by Hamas and other Palestinian militants, amid spiralling violence sparked by unrest at Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
