Following months of almost no reported infections, Thailand relaxed its controls until it was hit with a second wave in December 2020, which originated in a shrimp market in Samut Sakhon province. Despite the fact that the second wave almost already doubled the number of cases, the daily infections have already decreased to between 200-300, and the government is confident it will be able to bring it under control as it did before.
