The ID.4 is Volkswagen’s first all-electric SUV and the brand’s first global EV. Built on Volkswagen’s MEB electric vehicle architecture—the modular electric drive matrix—it marries the strengths of a purpose-built EV with performance, packaging and value, features that have marked the brand for decades. The ID.4 competes in the world’s largest market segment—compact SUVs—and is currently produced in Germany and China; in the future, it will also be assembled in the United States.
Volkswagen of America, Inc., is pleased to announce another round of fuel economy figures for the 2021 ID.4 electric SUV. The ID.4 AWD Pro has an EPA-estimated 249 miles of range on a full charge and the AWD Pro S has an EPA-estimated 240 miles of range on a full charge.The ID.4 Pro rear-wheel-drive previously received an EPA-estimated range of 260 miles on a full charge, while Pro S rear-wheel-drive was rated at an EPA-estimated 250 miles of range on a full charge.The EPA-estimated fuel economy for ID.4 AWD Pro is 102 MPGe in city driving; 90 MPGe in highway driving, and 97 MPGe in combined city/highway driving. The EPA-estimated fuel economy for the AWD Pro S is 98 MPGe in city driving; 88 MPGe in highway driving, and 93 MPGe in combined city/highway driving.The AWD ID.4 models offer an 82kWh (gross) battery along with a permanent-magnet synchronous motor in the rear and an asynchronous motor in the front offering a combined maximum 295 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque. At a public DC fast-charging station, with 125 kW charging, the ID.4 can go from five to 80 percent charged in about 38 minutes.
The ID.4’s exterior has athletic proportions for an ultra-modern appearance. Its clear, flowing design is inspired by nature and guarantees very good aerodynamics with a drag coefficient of 0.28.Its basic version already features headlights that are almost completely equipped with light-emitting diodes while its tail light clusters have been fully equipped with this technology. As the top-of-the-range version, interactive IQ.Light LED matrix headlights are even more progressive: they welcome drivers with swivelling lens modules and generate an intelligently controlled main beam. These headlights have been paired with the new 3D LED tail light clusters. Their tail light is particularly homogeneous and lights up in an intensive red. The large wheels with a diameter of up to 21 inches underline the vehicle’s character.
Volkswagen is continuing to ramp up the speed of the electrical transformation: the latest hardware and software updates to the ID. family are now set to be followed by the start of series production of the brand new ID.71. Measuring almost five metres long and equipped with the best convenience features, the ID.7 is a Volkswagen positioned in the upper mid-size vehicle class. Here, it impresses with a new high-efficiency drive, long ranges, quick charging, generous space, a brand new high-tech interior concept and a high quality standard. The ID.7 will be launched around the world. It all starts in Europe: the new Volkswagen can already be ordered here as a 210 kW (286 PS)4 ID.7 Pro with a 77 kWh battery. A World-wide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) range of up to 6212 kilometres has been calculated for this model. Volkswagen plans to expand the product line’s portfolio further over the coming months. The launch version will be followed by ID.7 models with an even larger battery, a sporty GTX version with all- wheel drive, and an estate version, which will be called Tourer in the ID-7 product line.
