Hundreds mourn indigenous leader killed in Colombia's Cauca

Caldono, Apr 21 (EFE).- Hundreds of people gathered in Caldono, Cauca Department on Wednesday to mourn the death of indigenous governor Sandra Liliana Peña Chocue, who was killed on Tuesday in the latest attack on native communities in southwest Colombia. The murder of the indigenous governor of the Colombian department of Cauca once again has become a searing emblem of the constant violence in the region, where more than a third of the 836 victims of political-social violence that existed in 2020 in all of Colombia lived, as revealed in an academic report.
