South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa visits a site of looting in the eastern KwaZulu-Natal province following a week of deadly violence which he says had been 'planned'. Shopping malls and warehouses have been ransacked in two provinces, stoking fears of shortages and inflicting a devastating blow to the economy. The heads of West African states gather in Abuja to hold an extraordinary summit on Niger, following a coup d'etat which has established military leaders as the new heads of state.
