Moscow (Russia), Feb 2 (EFE/EPA) - (Camera: Yury Kochetkov/Maxim Shipenkov).- Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny appeared in court Tuesday for a hearing that could see him jailed for 3.5 years on charges he claims are politically-motivated. Russia’s penitentiary service has now asked a district court in Moscow to order Navalny to serve a suspended prison sentence he was given for fraud charges in 2014, claiming that he violated parole conditions while in Germany. Navalny, 44, arrived at the court with his lawyer, Olga Mikhailova, and wife Yulia. Navalni was returning to Russia after almost five months of medical treatment and rehabilitation in Germany due to a poisoning attempt which he was victim of in Siberia and for which he holds Russian President Vladimir Putin directly responsible.
