France’s Macron, Germany’s Merkel hold first post-Trump security meeting amid tensions with Russia

French President Emmanuel #Macron and German Chancellor Angela #Merkel are to hold a virtual defence and security council meeting on Friday, with the Russian crackdown on opposition expected to be addressed between the two leaders. It will be their first official meeting since Joe #Biden became US President, but the two leaders have different stances on how to respond to the tensions over how to react to the jailing of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny.
