Mumbai, Jan 25 (EFE/EPA).- Thousands of tractors are set to queue up on Tuesday on roads of the Indian capital as part of a show of force by farmers' groups protesting against three "anti-farmer" laws liberalizing the agrarian sector, a stir which will coincide with the official Republic Day celebrations. Amritsar/Bangalore, Sep 28 (EFE).- Farmers protests continued in different parts of India on Monday against controversial new agriculture laws that allow big retailers to procure farm products directly from growers.A tractor was set on fire in front of the iconic India Gate monument in New Delhi early morning, while protests continued in other northern states like Punjab. Amritsar, Oct 7 (EFE / EPA).- Farmers protested Wednesday during the fourteenth day in a row in Amritsar, against laws proposed by the Government of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which allow large traders to buy products directly from farmers.The reforms approved by Parliament seek to pave the way for private investment to boost the agricultural sector, which represents about 15% of the country's economy.However, they have been harshly criticized both by the opposition and by the farmers themselves, who fear it will leave them unprotected.
