Rumors have been flying about what, if anything, President Donald Trump will do during the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden. According to Business Insider, one such story making the rounds is that Trump will visit his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland. In fact, a Scottish newspaper reported Sunday that a US military plane sometimes used by Trump is scheduled to arrive at an airport near the resort. But on Tuesday, Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon put an end to such speculation. Sturgeon said the country's national lockdown, which includes a prohibition on non-essential travel, applies to Trump as well.
Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch has publicly thanked workers of Britain's National Health Service for vaccinating him against COVID-19. This, as Fox News personality Tucker Carlson urged his audience to look at the vaccine with skepticism. According to Business Insider, Carlson said on 'Tucker Carlson Tonight' Thursday, the vaccine 'feels false, because it is. It's too slick' Meanwhile, Murdoch, 89, and his wife Jerry Hall Murdoch, have been isolating at their home in Oxfordshire, England, for most of the pandemic. On Friday, Goldman Sachs predicted the UK's economy will grow 7% in 2021. The growth will be led by the coronavirus vaccine rollout and a Brexit trade deal. Over half of the country's population is expected to be immunized by March. Business Insider reports there will be a significant rebound in economic activity from the second quarter of next year. New trade restrictions are likely to weigh on potential growth in the coming years. Goldman said the drag will mostly be slow to materialize. UK GDP will end the year 11.7% under its pre-pandemic level, twice as much as Germany, France, and Italy.
