Authorities gather up some discarded trees and ship them off to the zoo, where elephants munch on the greenery with glee. Elephants at Berlin Zoo got a festive snack on Thursday after being offered some leftover Christmas trees.
Animals living at Zoo Tiergarten in Berlin enjoyed a belated Christmas dinner on Wednesday when they were treated to unsold Christmas trees.
It's the traditional Christmas meal for the animals at Berlin Zoo: unwanted fir Christmas trees served up as treats for elephants, reindeer and creatures to enjoy.
The animals weren't left out of festivities at Berlin's famous zoo.
Even the animals of Berlin zoo are getting in on the festive fun, with staff giving them tasty treats like meat or vegetable Christmas trees.
