Pelosi, Schumer Call On Trump Demand Protestors Leave Capitol

Samuel Corum/Getty House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer tapped on President Donald Trump to stop the riots at the US Capitol in DC. "We are calling on President Trump to demand that all protestors leave the U.S. Capitol and Capitol Grounds immediately," Pelosi and Schumer said in a joint statement. Thousands of pro-Trump supporters gathered in DC on Wednesday to attend a "March for Trump" rally to support the president's baseless claims that he won the election.

  • Arkansas Man Who Put Feet On Pelosi's Desk In Capitol Riot Arrested

    The man who broke into the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and sat with his feet on her desk, during the US Capitol riot Wednesday has been arrested. CNN reports Arkansas man Richard Barnett has been charged with three federal counts. CNN reports the Arkansas man was taken into custody Friday morning in Little Rock. Charges include knowingly entering and remaining in restricted building grounds without authority, and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. Federal officials say Barnett's also been charged with the theft of public property.

    According to Business Insider, aides say that President Donald Trump was detached, "mentally unreachable," and and ignored their pleas during the storming of the US Capitol building on Wednesday. An official told The Washington Post that the president has "this notion that he's been treated unfairly." People close to Trump said that they were "certain the president wanted this and is enjoying it." The violent attack forced members of Congress to hide and flee temporarily from the Capitol, while in the process of certifying Joe Biden's election victory. Trump stayed in the White House and defended his supporters, while refusing to condemn the violence. Trump's aides urged him to issue a strong statement against the rioters' violence, but he was "ignoring these entreaties." An official described Trump as "a total monster," and others were "avoiding him like the plague."
