Description

With the Lexus NX, drivers are on the safe side: Thanks to advanced assistance and safety systems, the premium SUV achieves five out of five possible stars, the best rating in the crash test of the independent testing organization Euro NCAP.The new edition of the successful model, which is available as a full hybrid NX 350h and for the first time as a plug-in hybrid NX 450h+, impresses in all four test areas. • 2022 Lexus RX - Crash & Safety Tests

Drivers are on the safe side with the Lexus RX: In the crash test of the independent testing organization Euro NCAP, the premium SUV was awarded five out of five stars. The latest generation of Lexus Safety System +, which comes as standard, is partly responsible for the top rating, which, together with other driver assistants, provides support in everyday life and helps to identify dangers and avoid accidents. The numerous assistance systems complement the improved GA-K platform in the fifth model generation, which offers excellent body rigidity and a low center of gravity. The Lexus RX achieves top results in all four test categories: The protection of adult occupants is rated at 90 percent, the safety of children at 87 percent. When it comes to protecting endangered road users, the RX achieves 89 percent and an outstanding 91 percent for the assistance systems.Lexus has made several improvements for this: The Pre-Crash Safety System (PCS) now uses a combination of radar and camera. Thanks to the enlarged working area and a shorter reaction time, even more dangers can now be detected earlier. The intersection assistant, for example, notices oncoming traffic and crossing pedestrians when turning and minimizes the risk of possible collisions. The emergency steering assistant helps with evasive maneuvers with targeted steering and braking assistance. The PCS also registers a sudden, unintentional actuation of the accelerator pedal at low speeds - and can thus prevent potentially dangerous acceleration.

  • Lexus RZ - Crash & Safety Tests - 2023

The Lexus RZ is the luxury brand's first globally available all-electric executive model and the latest vehicle to be tested by Euro NCAP. The Lexus RZ meets Euro NCAP’s expectations for all-around good crash protection for occupants representing a range of ages, heights, and sizes. The car is also equipped with the latest crash avoidance systems and comes with several new active safety innovations. The RZ is the first car that Euro NCAP rewards for Child Presence Detection technology under the latest 2023 rating regime.Crash protection remains the foundation of Euro NCAP’s safety rating. The Lexus RZ, which shares its platform with the earlier tested Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra, performed well in full-scale crash tests and additional occupant protection evaluations, earning top marks in the side barrier test. However, in the full-width rigid barrier test, chest protection was rated as weak for the rear passenger, and, in the side pole test, dummy readings of rib compression indicated a marginal level of protection. More positively, to reduce the risk of occupant-to-occupant injuries in far-side crashes, the car also offers a standard centre airbag. The Lexus RZ is equipped with several onboard sensors that provide the latest legally required advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) functions and impress in autonomous emergency braking track tests simulating critical emergency situations with other road users. New in the vehicle is the child presence detection system, which warns when a child or infant may have been left in the car and is consequently potentially lifesaving in hot weather. The system first issues an in-cabin reminder to check for a child when exiting the car and later switches on the vehicle hazard lights if it is likely that a child has been left in the vehicle. Finally, several improvements have been introduced to facilitate post-crash rescue, including an advanced eCall system, a multi-collision brake, and safeguards for passengers in the event of vehicle submergence.
