During a state visit to Sweden, French President Emmnauel Macron urges Europe to take 'bold' decisions to support Ukraine, regardless of what the US decides. While the US has sent tens of billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine since the Russian invasion in February 2022, Republican lawmakers are growing reluctant to keep supporting Kyiv, saying it lacks a clear end game as the fighting grinds on. Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban arrives at a crunch EU summit threatening to veto a massive aid package and a start to membership talks for Ukraine. "We set up seven preconditions" he says, "three out of the seven is not fulfilled". The summit comes with fears mounting over Western support for Ukraine nearly two years into Russia's war. SOUNDBITE
Hungarian President Viktor Orban "has no reason to block Ukrainian membership in the European Union," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says on the eve of an EU summit where the issue was to be discussed. "I asked him to tell me one reason why. Not three, not five, not 10. Tell me one reason," Zelensky says of his talks with Orban. "I'm waiting for (an) answer," he tells reporters in Oslo where he is meeting with five Nordic leaders. SOUNDBITE
