UK parliament opening: Prince Charles delivers Queen's Speech, sets out PM's agenda

Description

With Queen Elizabeth forced to withdraw from the UK parliament opening for the first time in almost 60 years, Britain's heir-to-the-throne Prince Charles stepped in to read out the government's legislative agenda at the Palace of Westminster, the first time he has taken on such a major constitutional duty. Charles outlined Prime Minister Boris Johnson's return to his election pledges to tackle regional inequalities across Britain and maximise its post-Brexit freedoms. FRANCE 24 is joined by John Curtice, Professor of Politics at the University of Strathclyde and Senior Research Fellow at the National Centre for Social Research. He explains what the Conservatives' "levelling up" agenda entails and how it will translate into government policy.
