To mark World Environment Day, volunteers gather and sort through plastic waste and rubbish collected at one of Cyprus' first two plastic-free beaches, in an effort to keep the stretches of sand free of single-use plastics.
Oil washing up on a beach on Thailand's east coast could be the "nail in the coffin" for pandemic-hit hotels and restaurants, local hospitality businesses say.
Facilities to encourage visitors to avoid the use of single use plastics are installed by several NGOs and the municipality at the Ayia Triada beach in Paralimni.
