"BMW is getting ready to tackle the most important race in the FIA World Endurance Championship with its brand new BMW M8 GTE. And while we’re excited to see the car in the race in just a little over a week, most people are more interested in the reveal of the production 8 Series model, which will take place during the same weekend. Nevertheless, the BMW Works drivers and engineers are hard at work preparing the M8 GTE for this 24-hour race which will also involve plenty of night driving. This means cars will have to be equipped with working, high-performance lights to allow the driver to actually see where they’re going. In this regard, BMW worked closely with Osram to put together a new LED headlight system for the M8 GTE. Designed by specialist GERG Lighthouse and based closely on the design of the BMW 8 Series Coupé production model, the cutting-edge LED technology in the main headlights not only guarantee a particularly high range in the night, but also illuminate the entire width of the track extremely well."
