Nelson Piquet Jnr endured a dramatic crash in the fourth race of the 2018/19 ABB FIA Formula E season in Mexico City but stepped out his Jaguar I-TYPE 3 unharmed. Mitch Evans brought his racecar over the line in seventh for a six-point finish for Panasonic Jaguar Racing.
Mitch Evans and Nelson Piquet Jnr battled extreme temperatures of 37C in Santiago but brought both Jaguar I-TYPE 3s to the finish in the hottest ABB FIA Formula E race in history. The Santiago E-Prix overtook the 35 degrees reached in season two – and was the joint hottest day ever recorded in the Chilean capital.
The fifth season of ABB FIA Formula E got off to an electric start in Saudi Arabia with a double points finish for Panasonic Jaguar Racing. The race saw the debut of the new Generation 2 Jaguar I-TYPE 3 a faster all-electric racecar with greater efficiency and range.

The bold new design pushes the boundaries of innovation and technology, showcasing the future of electric motor racing. Panasonic Jaguar Racing have developed their entire powertrain in-house, reinforcing the team’s mission – ‘Race to Innovate’. These bespoke Jaguar components consist of the motor generator unit (MGU), silicon carbide module invertor, transmission, cooling system, suspension, motor control unit (MCU) and new powertrain control software. The advanced MGU revs in excess of 30,000 RPM, more than double the rate of a 2018 Formula 1 car, enabling the Jaguar I-TYPE 3 to accelerate from 0-100 KPH in 2.8 seconds.
