NASA's Perseverance Mars rover captures Phobos, the larger of Mars' two moons, eclipsing the Sun. It's the highest quality footage of a Phobos solar eclipse ever taken from the Martian surface.
NASA scientists that worked on the Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover mission show new stills and videos from the rover's landing on the surface of the Red Planet, which they say are useful to "inspect not only the vehicle but the surface around."
After seven months in space, NASA's Perseverance rover overcame a tense landing phase with a series of perfectly executed maneuvers to gently float down to the Martian soil Thursday and embark on its mission to search for signs of past life. FRANCE 24's Alyssa Caverley reports from Los Angeles.

NASA said Thursday that the Perseverance rover has touched down on the surface of Mars after successfully overcoming a risky landing phase known as the "seven minutes of terror."
