Women 'beat' men with sticks as Holi celebrations kick off in India

Thousands in the northern Indian town of Barsana welcome spring in a rainbow of colours, kicking off celebrations for the annual Hindu festival of Holi, sometimes known as 'The festival of Colours'. As part of a special tradition in the town of Barsana, women use sticks to 'beat' men while they try to shield themselves. Nationwide Holi celebrations will begin on March 18.
