Chinese tech company Ehang presented their FlyTaxi concept at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Tuesday which transforms a quadcopter into a giant drone taxi that shuttles single human passengers over dense urban environments. The system will be automated, so passengers will just input the destination and enjoy the ride, although it will be possible to drive it manually.
Visitors to the 2018 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona were treated to Samsung's unveiling of 2 new smartphones on Sunday, the new Galaxy S9 and S9+, which feaure brighter and bigger screens, highly advanced cameras, stereo speakers and ultra-slow motion video capture. Swiss watchmaker MyKronoz showed off its new hybrid smartwatch ZeTime, which combines Swiss watchmaking traditions with a digital touchscreen, at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona on Tuesday. The manufacturers claim that ZeTime boasts a 200 millamp hour battery capacity, meaning it can continue to function for 30 days on a single charge. The TFT display is 1.18 inches in diameter with a screen resolution of 240 x 240 pixels. It is equipped with Bluetooth, which allows the watch owner to manage calls and receive notifications. For wellness lovers, ZeTime offers a sleep and activity tracker, which calculates movements and activity time. The smartwatch is expected to hit stores in September of this year and will cost about $211.
Nokia announced a blast from the past for audiences at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Sunday by "re-introducing" an old favourite, the Nokia 3310. The phone was the world’s most popular device in the year 2000. The 2017 model has 22 hours talk-time, which is up to 10 times longer than the original model and up to one month of standby. The retro-styled electronic is priced at €49, or about $52.
Mercedes-Benz rolled out its new A-Class to the 2018 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and showed off its new Mercedes-Benz User Experience, or MBUX, smart multimedia system. The MBUX combines a futuristic display, Optical Finger Navigation, and voice controls with a high-level computing package, including 8GB of RAM, two different Nvidia graphics cards, and an AI recommendation system.
