The UN human rights chief, Michelle Bachelet, slams Russia's attack on Ukraine, warning of a "massive impact" on the rights of millions, and cautioning that heightened nuclear threat levels showed all of humanity was at risk. SOUNDBITE
The chief of the UN's nuclear watchdog says there is no immeidate risk to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant after damage to a major dam some 150 km away in occupied Ukraine caused floods. Whilst the IAEA is aware of reports of damage at the Kakhovka dam, Director General Rafael Grossi says the watchdog's "current assessment is that there is no immediate risk to the safety of the (Zaporizhzhia) plant." EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell warns Moscow not to use the alleged drone attack that it said targeted the Kremlin to escalate its war in Ukraine. "We call on Russia not to use this alleged attack as an excuse to continue the escalation of the war," Borrell tells journalists in Brussels as he attends an EU ministers meeting. SOUNDBITE
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says "the United Nations-centered system is enduring a profound crisis" as he presides over a Security Council meeting in New York amid Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. IMAGES
The UN's atomic agency chief Rafael Grossi warns of "increasing" military activity around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant during a rare visit to the plant currently controlled by Russian forces. Kyiv and Moscow have accused each other of shelling the plant, increasing fears of a disaster. SOUNDBITE
European Council President Charles Michel warns that the coming weeks could decide the course of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He makes the statement following a meeting between European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. "The next few weeks and months will probably be decisive. This is not the time to tremble, this is the time to be lucid and this is the time to deploy maximum support," Michel says. SOUNDBITE
