With the BMW i Interaction EASE, the BMW Group is offering a glimpse into a future where autonomous travel has long since become part of everyday life. However, the premium carmaker’s stand at this year’s CES in Las Vegas is not only a platform for study vehicles, it also showcases concrete designs – as highlighted by the BMW X7 ZeroG Lounger to stunning effect. Offering the first fully personalised recline and relax experience in a BMW model, this seat has been earmarked for series production in the next few years.Two BMW X7 models fitted with a ZeroG Lounger are on display at CES 2020 and can be taken for a test drive. The luxurious seat can be tilted back by 40 or 60 degrees into a comfortable reclined position. The seat belt forms an integral part of the seat and adjusts to suit the reclined position, ensuring maximum safety even while on the move. The BMW X7 ZeroG Lounger already meets all the requisite safety standards, thanks to new and innovative safety features. Besides the integration of the belt into the seat, this also includes a cocoon airbag providing wraparound protection for the occupant in the event of an accident and efficient dissipation of impact energy via the seat rail.
BMW M GmbH is adding a new body variant to its line-up of high-performance models in the premium midsize class. The first-ever BMW M3 Touring combines authentic motor sport feeling with a very distinct character and a broader spread of practical qualities. Its powertrain technology is focused wholly on delivering beguiling performance and brings together the 375 kW/510 hp version of the six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The latest addition to the range is therefore available exclusively in BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive form. The variable-use interior of the first BMW M3 Touring gives it a distinctive character profile, providing fresh scope for experiencing M-typical performance in everyday use. The new BMW iDrive including BMW Curved Display brings cutting-edge control/operation and connectivity tech to the cabin.
The generous feeling of space on board the new BMW X7 can be enjoyed across three rows of seats. The second row accommodates three passengers as standard and offers two particularly comfortable individual seats as an option. Heated comfort seats are provided as standard for the driver and front passenger. In European markets, BMW Individual Merino extended leather upholstery comes as standard. In other markets, standard specification includes seat surfaces in new Sensafin trim (not available in Europe). This high-quality, vegan surface material with leather-like properties has exclusive three-dimensional quilting and surface perforation.Together, the newly designed instrument panel – with its slim air vents and an ambient light bar included as standard in its lower section – and the BMW Curved Display bring a modern style shaped by progressive digitalisation to the cockpit. The innovative light bar complements the likewise standard ambient light. Its effective backlighting – with the help of LED units and a graphic including “X7” lettering (or the M logo in the new BMW X7 M60i xDrive) – is an integral element of the situation-based light effects and enhances the aura of exclusivity inside the cabin. The gear selector lever is also given a new and cutting-edge design.

The new BMW X7 also comes with a further expanded range of standard equipment, additional driver assistance systems and the latest 48V mild hybrid technology for the three engine variants offered.The new BMW X7 is a central pillar in the ongoing product offensive at the most exclusive reaches of the premium carmaker’s model line-up. The new X7 will be produced at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg, the competence centre for BMW X models in the US state of South Carolina. The worldwide market launch for the new BMW X7 will get underway in August 2022.
