Price of gas: Why does Europe pay so much more than the US?

One of the topics French president Emmanuel Macron is keen to discuss with his US counterpart Joe Biden as the two meet in Washington on Thursday is the high price European consumers pay for gas exported from the US. But why is gas so much more expensive in Europe than across the Atlantic? Some experts say it has more to do with European energy companies than White House policy?
