Most dog owners know that you shouldn't feed your pooch sweets, but one new cafe in the Italian city of Brescia is turning that outdated belief on its head. Acupuncture is hugely popular at Shangai's newly opened Pets TMC Centre, with staff receiving special training on how to poke long metal needles into puppies all as part of the ancient Chinese tradition. Acupuncture is one of the oldest techniques in Chinese medicine, believed to be at least 2000 years old, and is performed in order to balance chi energy in the body. It's not an exact science, and the procedure definitely has its detractors, but there were plenty of happy customers singing its praises.
This adorable pup is named Lady, and she has a form of canine muscular dystrophy as well as a mental illness. Her muscles are decaying rapidly and she has a lot of trouble walking and getting around. Her owner, a man named Vassilis Paleothodoros, took her to various vets in Athens, where he lives, and they all suggested to euthanize the pup because her disease can be difficult, both for the animal and for the guardian. However, since the four-legged fluff ball doesn't seem to suffer from any physical pain, Vassilis wouldn't give up on his beloved canine companion and decided to seek the advice of an expert on dogs, a specialty vet named Vassilis Tzigkouras. The vet, who is a former plumber, decided to build a specialty wheelchair for the handicapped animal. Now Lady is able to walk around again thanks to the unique wheelchair. Lady's rare condition, Vassilis's love for his furry friend, and one passionate vet, came together to design a wheelchair that ended up giving this poor pup another chance at mobility and a fulfilling life. Don't you love it when humans help animals?
Have you ever flown with your dog before? Maybe you know how much of a worry it is to leave your pooch behind with a friend for an extended period of time or, even worse, leave your dog in the hold with the rest of the baggage. However, one airline is now offering a novel new service which enables their clients to bring their best animal friends on board the flight and keep the in the cabin. Japan Airlines launched a special flight that allows pet dogs to travel in the cabin with their owners. They rolled out the new, limited-time service, which is called the "wan wan jet," on the flight from Narita International Airport outside Tokyo to the southwestern Kagoshima Prefecture, and dog lovers are howling with delight. Pet dogs and their owners were able to depart together in the passenger cabin of a Boeing 737 as part of a special three-day domestic tour. While pets usually travel in cargo compartments, the "wan wan jet" service gave owners the right to make sure that their dog were safe and comfortable as they traveled together in the cabin on a charter flight. The dog flight service is part of a package tour. Owners accompanied by their furry friends will stay together in a hotel and go sightseeing. The basic package costs just over $1,300 for two adults and a dog.
