New York's delivery bikers organize for better working conditions

Description

New York's legions of food delivery workers -- declared “essential” during the pandemic, but lacking health insurance, a minimum wage and even access to bathrooms -- are mobilizing for the first time to demand better working conditions. Overwhelmingly Hispanic immigrants, the 80,000 "deliveristas" who zip around the Big Apple on electric bikes have formed "Los Deliveristas Unidos," the first movement of independent riders for food delivery apps. In just a few months, the movement has gained more than 1,000 members and over 13,000 Facebook followers across New York City.
