New York, Feb 1 (EFE).- The northeastern United States on Monday is suffering under the impact of a big winter storm that threatens to dump up to half a meter (1.6 feet) of snow on New York City, a situation that would be one of the largest snowfalls in the history of the Big Apple, where city authorities have already declared an emergency and have temporarily halted the anti-Covid vaccination campaign.

Do you use Snapchat? If you do, you might have heard about their brand new product. Up to 500 Snapchat enthusiasts queued up outside the ‘Spectacles’ pop-up store on 5 East 59th Street, near Central Park in New York's Manhattan on Monday to buy a pair of the instant messaging app’s new gadget, the Snapchat Spectacles, which are sunglasses fitted with a camera. Shoppers queued from 6:00 EST (11:00 GMT) to purchase the spectacles from a ‘Snapbot’ vending machine placed in the middle of the room. Spectacles can synch up with a person's Snapchat account, allowing them to shoot short videos sent as ephemeral messages via the Snapchat app. Rotating monitors on the walls showed different 'Snaps' from some of Snapchat's 150 million daily users. Snapchat has actually surpassed Twitter in active daily users. Shoppers could purchase a maximum of two pairs of specs priced at $129.95. The pop-up store will remain open until New Year's Eve, closing only on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
