Submarine crisis: Macron and Biden have 'friendly' call to smooth things over

Description

The most significant rift in decades between the US and France seems on the mend following a "friendly" call between the two leaders. Jeremy Ghez, Director of HEC Center for Geopolitics, asserts that "the joint statement seems like an apology on the part of Biden." Mr. Ghez observes, "there seems to be a few recognitions, including the need for better consultation, the need for a stronger European defense." But Mr. Ghez warns "there are still a lot of open questions beyond this reconciliation."
