Santa Cruz de La Palma, Oct 9 (EFE).- The new lava flow from the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma is causing "tremendous destruction”, Canary Islands Volcanology Institute (Involcan) said Saturday.Involcan published images of the flow saying it was hindering the movement of scientists in the area as the volcano resumed releasing lava earlier in the day. El Paso, Oct 2 (EFE).- The seismography specialist of the Spanish National Geographic Institute (IGN), Itahiza Domínguez, stated Saturday that there are no signs of depletion of magma or gas emission from La Palma's volcano and that it was too early to tell how long the eruption would last. El Paso, Sep 30 (EFE).- The Spanish Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, visited Thursday the Advanced Command Post facilities, where he was informed about the current situation of La Palma's volcanic eruption. Scientists monitoring the volcano warned Thursday that a forecast change of wind direction could blow gases and ash over populated areas, lowering the air quality.The lava flow from the volcano that erupted on the Cumbre Vieja ridge 11 days ago hit the ocean on Tuesday evening, releasing toxic fumes. Santa Cruz de La Palma, Sep 27 (EFE).- The Cumbre Vieja volcano on Spain's La Palma Island began spewing abundant quantities of lava once again on Monday evening after several hours of relative calm.Not counting the large amount of lava currently being ejected, the amount of volcanic material emitted during the first seven days of this latest eruption that began on Sept. 19 - 46.3 million cubic meters - already exceeds the 43 million cubic meters spewed over 24 days in the previous eruption on La Palma in 1971.On Sunday, lava swept rapidly through the town of Todoque, destroying a church and other buildings and edging closer to the ocean.
