Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain, Sep 19 (EFE).- (Camera: Miguel Angel Perez Calero) A volcano erupted on the island of La Palma, in Spain’s Canary Island archipelago, on Sunday following a week of seismic activity in the area.The eruption emerged from the Cumbre Vieja volcanic ridge on La Palma, located to the southeast of the island’s most populous municipality Los Llanos.FOOTAGE OF THE ERUPTION.

    El Paso, Oct 2 (EFE).- The seismography specialist of the Spanish National Geographic Institute (IGN), Itahiza Domínguez, stated Saturday that there are no signs of depletion of magma or gas emission from La Palma's volcano and that it was too early to tell how long the eruption would last.     Santa Cruz de La Palma, Sep 27 (EFE).- The Cumbre Vieja volcano on Spain's La Palma Island began spewing abundant quantities of lava once again on Monday evening after several hours of relative calm.Not counting the large amount of lava currently being ejected, the amount of volcanic material emitted during the first seven days of this latest eruption that began on Sept. 19 - 46.3 million cubic meters - already exceeds the 43 million cubic meters spewed over 24 days in the previous eruption on La Palma in 1971.On Sunday, lava swept rapidly through the town of Todoque, destroying a church and other buildings and edging closer to the ocean.
