The EQS SUV offers plenty of space, comfort and connectivity for up to seven vehicle occupants in its avant-garde, luxurious interior. Thanks to powerful electric motors, responsive 4MATIC all-wheel drive and an intelligent OFFROAD driving mode, this model is also capable of tackling light terrain with ease. At market launch, the model range comprises three variants: EQS 450 + and EQS 450 4MATIC each with 265 kW output, and the EQS 580 4MATIC with 400 kW.The new EQS SUV shares its long wheelbase (3,210 millimetres) with the EQS Saloon, but is more than 20 centimetres higher. The dimensions in detail: 5,125/1,959/1,718 millimetres. The interior dimensions benefit from these generous SUV dimensions and from the advantages of the purpose design tailored to the electric platform. The second row of seats can be electrically adjusted as standard. Up to four golf bags fit in the boot. A third row of seats with two additional individual seats and extensive comfort features for all passengers is available as an option.

The EQS is also the first model to be based on the modular architecture for luxury and executive-class electric vehicles. Fusing technology, design, functionality and connectivity, the EQS delights both drivers and passengers. The first models to come onto the market are the EQS 450+ rated at 245 kW (NEDC combined electrical consumption: 18.9-16.2 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions: 0 g/km) plus the EQS 580 4MATIC rated at 385 kW (NEDC combined electrical consumption: 19.6-17.6 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions: 0 g/km). Fuel consumption acc. to WLTP: EQS 450+ combined electrical consumption 19.8-15.8 kWh/100 km, CO2 emissions 0 g/km; EQS 580 4MATIC combined electrical consumption 21.4-18.3 kWh/100 km, CO2 emissions 0 g/km.
The modular drive concept enables the EQE SUV to offer a wide range of maximum total drive outputs from 215 to 300 kW. Depending on the vehicle equipment and configuration, the European vehicles can achieve WLTP ranges of up to 590 kilometres2. In the EQE SUV, the lithium-ion battery consists of ten modules. The innovative battery management software, which was developed in-house, allows updates over the air (OTA). In this way, the energy management of the EQE SUV remains up-to-date throughout its entire life cycle.All EQE SUVs have an electric drivetrain (eATS) on the rear axle. The versions with 4MATIC also have an eATS on the front axle. In the 4MATIC models, the Torque Shift function ensures intelligent, continuously variable distribution of drive torque between the rear and front electric motors and thus the use of the most efficient eATS in each case. The modular drive concept enables high overall performance and a long range.To further increase the range, the electric motor at the front axle can be completely decoupled. This is carried out by what is known as the Disconnect Unit (DCU). The intelligent disconnection system works complete automatically, depending on the driving situation and the required output. At low loads the DCU switches into 4x2 driving mode, and both the electric motor and the relevant transmission at the front axle cease operation. This ensures that the drag losses otherwise normally experienced are largely eliminated.
