Sri Lankan health workers perform Covid-19 swab tests in Colombo

Colombo, Aug 18 (EFE/EPA).- The Sri Lankan government has imposed an island-wide midnight quarantine curfew from 10 pm to 4 am until further notice in order to slow down the spread of the coronavirus. According to health authorities in Sri Lanka, 171 Covid-19 deaths were reported in Sri Lanka on August 17, the highest number recorded in a day. Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Medical Association has called on the government to close the country for at least two weeks to prevent an increase in Covid-19 patients.
