Description

Taylorsville/Indian Valley, Aug 12 (EFE/EPA).- The more than 6,000 people battling the largest active wildfire in California struggled to make progress Thursday amid daytime temperatures approaching 38 C (100 F).Containment of the Dixie Fire, which erupted July 14 in a mountainous area near Lassen National Forest in the northeastern part of the state, has remained at 30 percent for more than 24 hours. The combination of high temperatures, low humidity and warm winds from the southeast is hampering the effort, according to the latest update from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire).
