Images show air defence intercepting nighttime drone attacks and smoke rising above the city in Lviv, Ukraine, the day after the attacks. According to Lviv mayor Andriy Sadovyi three warehouses were destroyed and one person was killed. Ukraine says its air defence systems had downed 27 Shahed drones launched overnight in Russia's latest aerial barrage. "A total of 30 attack UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) were launched... As a result of combat work, 27 Shaheds were shot down by air defence units," the Ukrainian air force said on social media. IMAGES

Images of Rafael Grossi, head of the UN Atomic Agency (IAEA), arriving at the Moscow-controlled Zaporizhzhia power plant on a trip organised by the Russian army. Grossi is flanked by soldiers in combat clothing on what is his second visit to the site of Europe's largest nuclear power station, following one in September 2022. The UN atomic watchdog's chief Rafael Grossi's convoy makes its way to Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia power plant in a rare visit to Europe's largest nuclear facility, which is currently held by Moscow's forces. Grossi arrived at the plant, Ukrainian nuclear power operator Energoatom announced on social media, adding that it is "the second visit of the Head of the IAEA to the largest nuclear plant in Ukraine and Europe, since it was occupied by the Russians". European Council President Charles Michel warns that the coming weeks could decide the course of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He makes the statement following a meeting between European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. "The next few weeks and months will probably be decisive.
