The International Criminal Court throws out an appeal by Dominic Ongwen, a Ugandan child soldier-turned-commander in the Lord's Resistance Army, against his conviction for war crimes. Dominic Ongwen, who was himself abducted aged nine by the rebel group led by the fugitive Joseph Kony, was found guilty last year of murder, rape and sexual enslavement in northern Uganda during the early 2000s. Phnom Penh, Sep 2 (EFE/EPA).- Kaing Guek Eav, or Duch, died Wednesday aged 77 in Cambodia, where in 2010 he became the first person convicted of crimes during the Khmer Rouge rule tried in an international court.Duch, the head of the Pol Pot regime's S-21 security prison, passed away at the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital in Phnom Penh at 12:52 p.m. (17.52 GMT Tuesday) while serving a life sentence for crimes against humanity.
