For the 2023 model year, the Sorento PHEV has been streamlined to one range-topping SX-P trim. While the SX-P was already fully equipped with an upscale interior, technology, standard AWD, and an expansive suite of standard Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including Highway Driving Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance technology, it gains other creature comforts such as a retractable rear door sunshades, a 115-volt inverter that can charge household items such as a laptop, and standard Homelink. With 32 miles of all-electric range, the Sorento PHEV can fully charge its battery in about 3.5 hours when utilizing a Level-2 charger. The Sorento PHEV continues to offer the most passenger room and second-row legroom of any PHEV SUV.
After recently debuting the all-new fifth generation Sportage, Kia has unveiled an electrified version of the brand’s longest running nameplate at the Los Angeles Auto Show (LAAS). The “Opposites United” design language employed on Sportage brings a bold blend of modern styling and sporty visual elements, while its interior offers the latest in technology, including an expansive list of ADAS features and dual panoramic display screens (12.3-inch instrument panel display and 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen display) for nearly 25 inches of viewing.This Sportage’s electrified performance comes from a seamless hybrid powertrain combining a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with a 44-kilowatt motor to achieve up to 39 mpg (targeted). Together, engine and motor make 226 horsepower channeled to either the front wheels or an active all-wheel-drive system. The result is a fuel-sipping compact SUV that delivers an engaging driving experience.

The Sorento Hybrid has been optimized for the 2023 model year with two repackaged trim levels. While the S trim has been discontinued, the Sorento Hybrid is now available in an all-new range-topping SX-P trim, which comes standard with Kia’s AWD system with center locking differential and Drive Mode Select with Snow Mode. Other standard features on the SX-P include 17-inch alloy wheels, LED foglamps, Smart Power Tailgate, 12.3-inch digital cluster, perforated leather seats, Bose premium audio system, Navigation Smart Cruise Control- Curve, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Surround View Monitor, Blind View Monitor, Parking Distance Warning – Front and Rear, and Second Row Captain’s Chairs. The EX remains in the trim lineup and gains an 8-way power front passenger seat and a frameless rear view mirror.
Kia has started production of its new Sorento Hybrid, representing the first application of electrified power in Kia’s global flagship SUV.Built to Kia’s exacting production standards, the new fourth-generation Sorento is manufactured at Kia’s Hwasung production facility in Korea, with Hybrid, gasoline and diesel variants of the SUV assembled on the same production line.The first Hybrid models to roll off the production line are destined for the European market, and the car will also soon enter production for North America at Kia’s West Point, Georgia, USA production plant. The outgoing third-generation Sorento, built on the same production lines, has won several quality accolades throughout its lifecycle. The new model will benefit from the same high production standards and quality controls.The Sorento has been a mainstay of Kia’s global line-up for almost two decades – more than three million Sorento models have been sold worldwide since it was launched in 2002. European sales of the fourth-generation Sorento are due to commence in the third quarter of 2020; the car will be available to order in most of Kia’s global markets by the end of the year.Towards the end of 2020, the new Sorento will also be available in certain markets for the first time as a Plug-in Hybrid, with production due to start at Hwasung later in the year.
The Plug-in Hybrid is the second electrified drivetrain in the Sorento line-up and sits alongside the low-emissions Sorento Hybrid. The latest addition to the range blends a powerful 1.6-litre T-GDi Turbocharged Direct injection petrol engine with a high capacity battery pack and high output electric motor, allowing the driver to complete an average daily commute to work purely on all-electric, zero emissions power. And the low CO2 emissions of the all-new Sorento Plug-in Hybrid makes it attractive for business users, thanks to its super low company car Benefit-in-Kind taxation rates.While many plug-in hybrid vehicles result in compromise, the fourth generation Sorento was designed from the beginning to accommodate electrified powertrains and deliver spacious accommodation for up to seven occupants. The larger body and all-new platform ensure that the latest iteration of the Sorento is one of the most spacious, practical and versatile electrified models on the market.
