Description

In addition to the 4-wheel drive chassis, the All-new Austral features a multi-link rear axle for better roadholding, a more comfortable drive, and exceptional stability in all circumstances. On bad roads, movement of the rear wheels benefit from improved steering and are much better and negotiating any irregular road surfaces. The advantages are immediate: wheel-to-road contact is superior, while the comfort and acoustics are optimal. When travelling at high speeds or taking corners faster than 50km/h, the rear wheels turn as much as 1° in the same direction as the front wheels. This is achieved thanks to the addition of a steering actuator mounted on the rear axle, which controls input coming from the power steering, the engine, and the electronic stability program (ESP).

  • The All-new Renault Austral, quality from A to L

It takes a high-tech plant to build a high-tech vehicle. Investments at the plant in Palencia, Spain have enabled the facility to guarantee the best quality in terms of the manufacturing and operation of the All-new Renault Austral and its various features. The vehicle contains no less than 32 advanced driver‑assistance systems (ADAS), including the latest-generation head-up display, with settings that were adjusted particularly painstakingly. Indeed, two new ultra-modern calibration benches were built to do just that. Sergio, the lead on new projects at the plant’s assembly department, tells us that fine-tuning these two benches wasn’t easy due to a lighting issue. Here’s more about the problem, how they solved it and how the result is already benefitting the vehicles rolling out of this plant.
