UN chief Antonio Guterres calls for "massive investments" to help Pakistan recover from last year's devastating floods. "Rebuilding Pakistan in a resilient way will run in excess of 16 billion US dollars, and far more will be needed in the longer term," the UN's Secretary-General tells an international conference in Geneva, which is seeking billions of dollars in donor pledges and other support for the flood-hit country. Rescuers from the Pakistan navy help residents in Dadu evacuate from their flooded homes, as large parts of southern Pakistan remain under water. More than 33 million people in Pakistan have been affected by the flooding, brought on by record monsoon rains amplified by climate change. The floods have caused at least 1,300 deaths and washed away homes, businesses, roads and bridges. IMAGES
