The Russian army accuses Kyiv forces of striking a jail holding Ukrainian prisoners of war in eastern Ukraine, saying dozens of people died and scores were wounded. Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has accused Russian forces of having carried out the attack.
"Putin promised that they wouldn’t bomb and agreed they’d give safe passage so they could get the grain out - but what does he do, he bombs" says one Odessa resident after Russian missiles hit the Ukraine port. Kyiv called the attack a "spit in the face" of a day-old deal between the warring sides to resume cereal exports blocked by the conflict, and help ease a growing global food crisis.

Rescue workers are clearing rubble at the Amstor shopping centre in the central Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk, after a Russian missile strike left 16 people killed and 59 wounded, according to Ukraine's emergency services.
